One-way keyword competition means that you have found a keyword that has an extremely low competition level and it only costs you a dollar to bid on it. This is good for a beginner, because it doesn't cost them anything to get started. However, this type of keyword is generally not very profitable because you have to wait around forever to see results. You can't expect to hit page 1 with a keyword like this because the competition isn't as stiff.

Two-way competition occurs when you are competing with more than one set of keywords and the keywords you're bidding on has a much higher competition rate. For example, if someone were to run a search for "toys" and the first page of results was "Cliff Johnson", then he could use those keywords in his bid. to try to get the highest ranking possible. However, if the second page was to be "Dora the Explorer" and the second page had the word "Cliff Johnson", then it would be much more profitable to bid on "Dora the Explorer" since it had a higher competition rate.

Keyword competition comes in many different forms and is one of the most important things to consider. It doesn't matter how good you think you are at SEO; without some sort of competitive analysis you will be losing out on tons of potential profits by not spending enough time working on your keyword campaign.
